CTL Introduces Next Generation 10.1″ 2go Classmate PC E10 Netbook

Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) September 14, 2009

Portland, Oregon’s CTL™ Corporation began shipping its new Clamshell 2go™ Classmate PC E10 netbook today. It replaces and surpasses the popular previous version in several key aspects.

E10 features a 10.1″ LCD Screen and 160GB Hard Drive as opposed to the 8.9″ LCD screen and 30GB Hard Drive on the 2go Classmate E09 model that CTL has been selling for the past year and a half.

Designed to withstand a thirty-inch drop, CTL’s new 2go Classmate PC netbook is more rugged. This is a major factor since CTL targets the educational market for this PC, grades K-8.

The 2go Classmate PC E10 also has a larger keyboard and touchpad and is available with Microsoft® Windows 7 as well as with Microsoft® Windows® XP or Ubuntu Linux.

Like the previous model, the new 2go Classmate PC features an energy efficient Intel® Atom™ Processor and is encased in a rugged shell complete with a built-in carrying handle and protective vinyl cover. With durable, drop-resistant construction, a sturdy plastic case, and water-resistant keyboard, the CTL 2go Classmate PC is an Intel® Powered classmate PC that can go just about anywhere and be used safely by just about anyone.

“What’s exciting about the new classmate PC is that it allows us to continue and improve this class of PC,” John Tucker, CTL’s Product Manager, said. “We’ve had so much success with it so far, and we’ve been able to keep the price down.

“Initially netbooks became popular because of price. A computer that is fully functional for a low price is very attractive,” Tucker continued. “What we’re seeing now is that the public is buying them not so much for price but because of the opportunity of having a fully functioning computer in such a small package. You can put it in your purse or your backpack and it weighs less than three pounds. A traditional laptop might weigh seven to ten pounds.

“It bridges the gap between a full-sized desktop or laptop and a cell phone. A cell phone has a hard time doing everything a computer does. You don’t have those issues with netbooks because they run a normal windows operating system.

“CTL’s new clamshell 2go classmate PC will expand the technology choices available to young students in the United States”, said Lila Ibrahim, general manager of Intel’s Emerging Markets Platform Group, the group that developed the Intel-powered classmate PC reference design. “Intel has been working with technology industries worldwide to offer complete education solutions that provide quality educational experiences for students around the world.”

The CTL 2go Classmate PC has a two-toned dark- and light-gray chassis. The 2go Classmate PC weighs in at 3 pounds and measures 8.7 x 7.3 x 1.5 inches.
