To create the E12 netbook, 2go PC has taken the Classmate E11 students and educators know and love, and made it more powerful and durable. There are still all the great features of the E11 including the built-in webcam, 3G-capable internet connectivity with wireless B/G/N, DDR 3 RAM, and ruggedized design. However, new changes and upgrades make this year’s model the most powerful 2goPC Classmate netbook yet. While the E11 is known for its durability, the E12 is further ruggedized to survive longer drops (up to 70 cm on a hard surface) and resist even larger amounts of liquid (up to 200 cc of spilled water). It comes with shock-mounted scratch- and water-resistant LCD screen, spill-resistant keyboard with antimicrobial protective coating, reinforced corners, and a protective rubberized case with removable handle. It even has a sensor that shuts down the hard drive to prevent damage in the event of a fall. In addition, the chiclet style keyboard is easier to clean and has keys that have been reinforced to withstand the hazards of young children armed with a stylus. And a quick release design makes this keyboard easily detachable to access memory, hard-disk drive/flash, and Wi-Fi.However, the biggest upgrade is the E12’s powerful new Intel Atom™ N2600 processor, which offers nearly a 40% increase in estimated battery life. Thanks to the new processor, the E12 can deliver a whopping 10 hours of battery life, more than enough for a full school day. Coupled with up to 2GB DDR3 memory, this netbook can run more applications and store more data than ever before. There is now also the ability to run either Windows or Ubuntu operating systems, and as always, you can have your educational software pre-installed.
Other upgrades include:
• The webcam has been upgraded from 1.3 megapixels to 2.0 megapixels to improve video images for presentations or video chatting online with friends and family.
• “Rapid Start” technology enables fast resume, allowing quicker access to internet, data, and applications—which saves valuable time in the classroom. In addition, the Rapid Start from Intel® allows for approximately 6 days of standby using a 3-cell battery and up to 13 days of standby with a 6-cell battery.
• Thinner, fanless design
• Expanded storage: 2.5″ 160GB / 250GB / 320GB SATA, upgradeable to 32GB / 64GB / 96GB / 128GB SSD
Available classroom-ready features for the E12 (Windows operating system) include interactive software such as LabCam, a webcam-based exploration tool, Mythware, an interactive e-learning, classroom management, collaboration and assessment program, and E-Reader. For security, McAfee Antivirus, the enhanced 2012 version of Theft Deterrent and Parental Control software from Intel® are available. And as always, you can have peace of mind when you select the fully configured 2go® E12 from CTL which includes a full one-year parts and labor warranty, further lowering the total cost of ownership.
Starting at $349, the E12 combines unprecedented power and features with affordability, making it a great value for students and educators!
