Rockchip Chromebook Wins Performance Tests – CTL J Series Chromebooks

CTL’s Rockchip Chromebook Outperforms Chromebooks using Intel Processors

Recent performance tests proved the CTL J2 Chromebook for Education, a Rockchip Chromebook powered by the RK3288-C processor, had superior performance to Chromebooks using the Intel N2840 and N2830 processors. In the performance test, the CTL J2 Chromebook for Education was tested alongside the Samsung Chromebook 2, which uses the Intel N2840 processor and the ASUS C300,which uses the INtel N2830 processor. As the testing data graphic shows, the CTL J2 Chromebook for Education outperformed the other two Chromebooks in all tested categories, including WebGL Fishtank, PeaceKeeper, Speedometer, Powerload Test, Time of Opening Google Maps and Time of Opening Gmail.

WebGL Fishtank, also known as WebGL Aquarium, is a test video using 3D models with high-quality textures, scene animation, pixel shader animation, reflections, refraction and caustics. The greater the number of fish per second (FPS), the better. The CTL J2 Chromebook for Education scored 30 FPS compared to the Samsung Chromebook 2, which scored 19 FPS and the ASUS C300, which scored 18 FPS.

Using the Peacekeeper online browser benchmark tool, the Chrome browser performance on each Chromebook was faster than on the ASUS C300 and Samsung Chromebook 2. In addition, the CTL J2 Chromebook for Education was significantly faster at opening Gmail and Google Maps. This Rockchip Chromebook also demonstrated superior battery performance in Powerload testing. The Powerload test was created to emulate average user behavior and measure the resultant battery life. In the case of this testing, a lower score is better and the CTL J2 Chromebook for Education out performed  the competition significantly with a a score of 2.9W/h compared to 4.8W/h for the other two Chromebooks with Intel N2840 and N2830 processors.
