FAQs: Selling Back Your Used K-12 IT Equipment

Equipment Types

CTL accepts IT assets including Chromebooks, Windows and Mac laptops, iPads or other tablets, networking equipment, and other electronics. Talk to your account manager for the equipment list.

Trade-In or Sell-back Valuation

For fleets of used Chromebooks, typically 500 units or more, CTL pays between $20 and $35 per Chromebook, depending on factors such as quantity, AU time left, condition, and other parameters. Work with your account manager for pricing or request a quote.

CTL pays you for Chromebooks that are able to be refurbished and sold, and will recycle Chromebooks that don't make the grade.

Taking your reimbursement in CTL credit toward new equipment will deliver the best value. CTL typically pays 25% less for cash back.

The Process

Of course not! We'll grade it and let you know how much is "refurbishable." In the meantime, we typically find that 65 - 75% of sell-backs are able to be refurbished, and therefore eligible for cash or credit back to you.

CTL is flexible for whatever payment method works for your program. Most of the time, CTL issues a credit toward new Chromebook device purchases, but we can also provide you with a check.

CTL typically issues your estimated valuation within 3 business days of receiving your intake form. Talk to your CTL account manager or request a quote.

For Chromebook fleets, CTL typically pays for the return shipping of Chromebooks.

CTL will accept your returned CTL devices in any condition. We will either refurbish or recycle them responsibly.

For Chromebooks, yes, if they are within Google AU limits. For all other IT equipment, talk to your account manager.

For non-CTL Chromebooks, they must be within the Google AU. For CTL models, if they are past the expected AU we
can help take them back for easy recycling.

All devices must be unenrolled, and available for pickup from a single location.

Data Security

Chromebooks receive a ChromeOS data wash. Windows and Mac laptops and desktops receive an SSD wipe. Customers also receive a log of all devices that passed our Certificate of Recycling for your compliance records.
