Student Chromebook Purchase Program for The Ambrose School
PURPOSE
The purpose of this program is to allow Bridge families to purchase a device for home and school use. These devices will be monitored by the same content filtering and school management system as the Chromebooks at school. Our hope is to make sure students are staying on task and as well as being safe and protected from the unsecure web. This program is required for Logic and Rhetoric school students (Grades 7-10). For 11-12th grade students, it is recommended and are allowed to bring their Chromebooks in at designated times for school work at the Bridge Campus.

ADVANTAGE
While many homes already utilize safeguards and filters, Lightspeed Systems products are only available to educational institutions and are known as the gold standard in filtering for students. Bridge students can now have access to this superior product through Ambrose licensing. Additionally, these student-purchased Chromebooks will be configured in the same way as school Chromebooks. Therefore, many distracting features and apps will be blocked and students will only be permitted to login with their school account, preventing a bypass of the protection features. While these Chromebooks will maximize student safety, it is important to remember that no filtering system or computer set-ups are perfect. Therefore, parental supervision is still required. However, we anticipate that purchasing these Chromebooks will minimize the harmful and negative effects of technology while also increasing student focus and productivity through elimination of most distractions and dangers. It is required that incoming students, Grades 7-12, purchase school Chromebooks through this program. 11th and 12th grade students are recommended and may bring in their device for school work only.
USE
As stated in the purpose, this program is required for Bridge Logic and Rhetoric school students (Grades 7-10). Only 11-12th grade students being recommended and are able to bring their Chromebooks in at designated times for school work at the Bridge Campus. The device is linked to the Ambrose Domain so if you have additional students within The Ambrose School that you would like to also utilize the device, that is allowed with their School Google Account. Being connected to our domain allows for students to have services like Safe Search, Lightspeed Content Filtering/Classroom Management, as well as our policies to limit what students have access to in order to increase productivity and focus. As long as the student remains at The Ambrose School, then all filtering and monitoring software will remain on the device. If the student has graduated or leaves The Ambrose School, all filtering and monitoring software will be removed from the device. The device will be factory reset to pull the licensing software in order to make it fully usable by the family. This removal process is done digitally. Please contact Ambrose IT if you need to remove all management from the device.
