CTL’s Commitment to 100% Renewable Power Helps Create a Cleaner, More Resilient Future

It was in the summer of 2023 when CTL committed to going 100% renewable power at our headquarters and warehouse in Beaverton, OR, as part of the Green Future program from Portland General Electric.

“With our commitment, and that of the more than 225,000 other Green Future participants, the renewable energy we supported helped prevent over 3.7 billion pounds of CO2* from being released into the atmosphere in 2024,” noted Jason Mendenhall, CTL’s CEO.

“CTL purchased 124,238 kWh* of wind renewable certificates in 2024,” added Mendenhall. “This is equivalent to 145.31 homes’** annual electrical use.”

The Green Future program from Portland General Electric offers a third-party validation through the Green-e Energy certification and meets the environmental and consumer protection standards set forth by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions.

The Center for Resource Solutions' Green-e® certification program is the trusted global leader in clean energy certification. The organization makes it easy for businesses and individuals to purchase verified clean energy with confidence, and for consumers to choose sustainable products and services. It advocates for the advancement of clean energy policy, markets, and technology, and believes in their economic and environmental benefits.

According to Portland General Electric, CTL’s sustainability efforts this past year “helped power a cleaner, more resilient future. By prioritizing clean energy, you’re making a difference that benefits us all. That’s a win worth recognizing.”

CTL’s renewable power commitment is just one of many efforts we undertake to support sustainability. In 2024, we earned the Certified B Corporation™ designation for our commitments to our workers, community, customers, and the environment. CTL joins other forward-thinking leaders in a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.

CTL earned B Corp™ certification by innovating sustainable programs, including:

  • Facilities that run on renewable energy

  • Carbon offset activities, planting thousands of carbon-capturing mangrove trees

  • The redesign of Chromebook products to increase the amount of recycled material to 30%

  • ChromeOS-as-a-Service device rental program to improve device lifecycle management, refurbishment, and recycling

  • Achieving platinum status with the Green Business Benchmark

  • The recent introduction of ITAD services, which provide responsible IT asset retirement and value reclamation for customers
