CTL is committed to integrating sustainable practices into everything we do, from sourcing materials to powering our facilities.
As outlined in our annual Sustainability Report, CTL has long been a champion of environmental stewardship. We've been recognized for our efforts with B Corporation certification, a designation reserved for companies that meet rigorous standards for social responsibility and sustainability.
Here are a few highlights of how CTL is contributing to sustainability:
- Renewable Energy: We're committed to reducing our environmental footprint and supporting the transition to a clean energy future. That's why our Beaverton, Oregon headquarters runs on 100% renewable energy sources to help reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
- Recycling and Resource Management: We take a proactive approach to waste reduction and resource management We’ve redesigned our newer Chromebooks to increase the amount of post-consumer recycled materials to 30%. To achieve our goals of increasing our volume of product takebacks and sales of refurbished products, CTL also runs robust trade-in and recycling programs for customers. Through this effort, we’re giving Chromebooks and other ChromeOS devices a second life either as a refurbished device or through component recycling.
- Carbon Offset Activities: CTL participates in the EcoDrive program and is a Certified Climate Positive Brand. Our carbon offset activities have planted 5,165 mangrove trees in Kenya to help mitigate climate change. The mangrove tree is one of the most efficient tree species for carbon capture due to its heavy and dense roots.
- Investment in compliance. CTL products carry many designations by organizations around the world for energy efficiency and climate responsibility. Some of our designations include platinum status with the Green Business Benchmark, Energy Star, EU Ecolabel, Responsible Business Alliance, and RoHS compliance.
- Ethical Business Practices: We believe in conducting business with integrity and respect for the environment. We partner with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability and hold ourselves accountable to the highest ethical standards. Additionally, we work with our employees to achieve 100% compliance with the CTL Code of Conduct, which includes directives to be inclusive, considerate, and respectful in all business dealings.
