In June, CTL shipped 47 refurbished laptops to Penguin Academy in Asuncion, Paraguay, to support its mission of teaching underserved youth how to code. CTL will ship 50 more laptops from our Kent, WA location in August.
Penguin Academy's CodePro program offers an eight-month program that includes the student receiving the laptop upon completion of the courses.
According to Penguin, "CodePRO is more than a course: it's a dynamic community and innovative ecosystem, fine-tuned to meet the global demand for tech experts with sharp technical skills and a collaborative vision."
Since 2019, Penguin Academy has trained more than 2,000 people who previously had no programming knowledge. Penguin uses "code as a school of thought, providing tools and skills so participants can take advantage of the endless opportunities that the 21st-century economy offers, in addition to the countless new jobs that emerge each year in the sector."
According to Penguin, "since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, we have embarked on a challenging planning process with a vision for the future that strongly motivates us: Paraguay and its people can take a giant leap forward and excel in the 21st-century economy through innovation and cutting-edge technology, advancing rapidly in the economic cycle to provide better professional opportunities and high-quality jobs for our youth"
