Game Based Learning: CTL’s New Portable Classroom Game Server Starting at $1349

CTL has teamed up with MakersFactory and Intel to introduce the CTL GBL (Game Based Learning) Cube, a portable classroom game server. The CTL GBL Cube helps teachers enhance student engagement through multiplayer game-based interaction. Convenient lesson plans based around established MineCraftEdu Worlds, CommonCore and NGSS standards are included.

The CTL GBL Cube consists of an Intel NUC Kit D54250WYK with a 4th Generation Intel core i5 processor that has been optimized for MinecraftEdu. MinecraftEdu is a school-ready remix of the original game, which is played by over 30 million people worldwide. Created by teachers for classroom use and officially supported by Mojang, the company behind Minecraft, MinecraftEdu contains a set of powerful yet simple tools to fine-tune the Minecraft experience for learning. Teachers in over 40 countries use MinecraftEdu game based learning in every subject area from STEM to Language to History to Art.

The CTL GBL Cube comes fully integrated including an installed MinecraftEdu server application. Each GBL Cube can support up to 35 concurrent users so the entire class can participate in MinecraftEdu games. MinecraftEdu server licenses and MinecraftEdu individual client licenses must be purchased from TeacherGaming, LLC.

The server has  exible LAN options including the ability to connect via wired Ethernet, wireless 802.11 networks with an a/b/g/n compatible router or by having the server function as a Wi-Fi Access Point where no networking is available. Additionally, instruction materials are available for setting up the server, MinecraftEdu game and for using MinecraftEdu to create and deliver specific lesson plans and game based learning.
