Super Computing Show 2010 New Orleans, LA

The 23rd annual super computing conference in New Orleans (SC10), LA kicked off this week with a record number of technical program attendees.

The super computing conference is the premier international conference on high-performance computing (HPC) and is the leading forum for information exchange in the global HPC community through speakers, expert panels and exhibits.

“These speakers are the best and brightest in the world, working in fields that have direct impact on the world and our place in it,” explains Ricky Kendall, chair of the SC10 Technical Program and Group Leader for the Scientific Computing Group at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility. “The plenary talks stimulate new ideas and keep people talking throughout the year.”

The conference features the super computing industry’s largest exhibit floor and is home to one of the fastest computer networks in the world. Called SCinet, the network has a capacity of over 260 gigabits per second which is so fast that it could download the entire collection of all of the books in the Library of Congress in less than 30 seconds.

CTL is exhibiting our high performance Quad Xeon QSSC-S4R servers in booth 4613 in the Intel Channel Pavilion. Jointly developed with Intel®, the QSSC-S4R is powered by Intel’s next generation Xeon® processor 7500 series for the expandable server segment. Designed specifically for high performance computing environments such as datacenters and large enterprises, the rack mounted QSSC-S4R features significant benefits including expandability with up to 4 processors with 32 independent processor cores, 1 Terabyte system memory via 64 memory DIMMs, 10 PCIe expansion slots, and as much as 4TB of internal storage.

The QSSC-S4R delivers unsurpassed computing power with built in support for up to 32 processor cores in the Intel Xeon Processor 7500 series. Additionally, the QSSC S4R can accomodate up to eight hot swappable 8-DIMM memory risor boards. With 1 TB of system memory, this is double the capacity of the previous generation in this category.
