Innovative Chromebook Design with a Sustainable Edge

Incorporation of PCR plastics. The CTL Chromebook PX111E is designed with a clear focus on sustainability. This model incorporates 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics, reducing the environmental impact associated with new plastic production. Our use of PCR materials helps divert waste from landfills, promoting a circular economy where resources are reused and repurposed.

Environmentally-friendly packaging. In addition to its eco-friendly construction, the PX111E ships in packaging certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This certification ensures that the paper products used come from responsibly managed forests, providing an added layer of environmental protection. As with all CTL products, the box and packaging are recyclable. To further cut down on waste, all CTL Chromebooks can ship in bulk boxes of 5 or 15 packs. 

Energy star certified. All CTL Chromebooks carry this designation and are known for low power consumption, requiring less electricity, which can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Designed for longevity. No longer are Chromebooks designed to be used for short periods of time and then discarded. CTL thoughtfully designs each Chromebook, including the new PX111E, with these parameters:

• Easy repairability. With single repair keys, easy battery replacement, a 24/7 spare parts portal, and free technical support videos, CTL empowers IT departments to self-repair quickly and easily, keeping the units in circulation longer.
• Durability. The CTL Chromebook PX111E incorporates a kid-tested 180° lay-flat hinge plus has undergone rigorous official MIL-STD-810H testing, including drop tests from 75 cm – all to ensure solid performance in the rough-and-tumble world of student use.
• Years of hardware use. The beauty of cloud computing is that the hardware can stay in play longer with all of the updates coming through software. Typical Google AUs are for 10 years, ensuring productivity on existing hardware for years to come.

Future-proofed for performance throughout the years ahead. With every new release like the PX111E Series, CTL designs in the most advanced technology available to ensure it can remain productive for years to come. Here are a couple of examples:

• Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3: These advancements provide faster, more reliable connections, ensuring uninterrupted online learning experiences. Wi-Fi 6E serves as the foundation and is forward-compatible to the coming standard in the next few years, Wi-Fi 7. 
• DDR5 RAM. DDR5 offers a substantial performance boost and improved efficiency compared to DDR4. Additionally, it’s designed to be the foundation for future technological advancements, ensuring compatibility with upcoming processors and technologies.

Sustainable Chromebook End-of-Life Programs 

IT leaders need to consider the end-game up front. Some of the considerations for Chromebook sustainability  like the PX111E Series include:

• Trade-ins. Before buying new, look for a trade-in program like CTL offers for your existing stock. You can reclaim some value for your old units, and the buying party will harvest it for parts reuse or responsibly recycle the unit. It’s the ultimate win-win for your budget and the environment.
